Saros turns 23 years old on Thursday, so Rinne currently blocking him on the depth chart isn’t concerning long term.

Every year when teams consider first-round backs in the draft, Peterson remains the paradigm. Everyone is looking for the freakish, home-run hitting power runner in his vein, and only a few are worthy of being taken so high.

From his first day with the Vikings, Peterson ran hard to get the most out of every carry and did not worry about the wear that would eventually catch up to him. As the No. 16 all-time rusher, he’s guaranteed a place in Canton even if doesn’t play another down in the NFL.

“‘Yo, so who washes the jersey?'” Lawson said. “He turns around and throws me some detergent and says, ‘Yeah, you can go wash it in the sink.’ It’s something that you really take for granted over here, but you are like, ‘Damn, I got to wash my jersey and hang it up.'”

Laundry, though, was easy compared to finding his swagger again. Lawson arrived in Shandong stripped of his confidence. Instead of looking to score and play aggressively, Lawson had become content to pass the ball off.

Yup, Juuse Saros is technically a rookie, and no, he won’t be among the Calder Trophy candidates. He’s going to be a star in this league, however. The Nashville Predators’ backup goalie has been stellar in Pekka Rinne ‘s stead, posting a .923 save percentage and 2.42 goals-against average over 48 career contests. His .925 even-strength save percentage was the ninth-best number in the NHL this season, and according to Corsica Hockey, his .842 high-danger save percentage was seventh.

Saros has earned more starts going forward, and Rinne will be 36 in November, and playing in the last year on his contract. The knock on the 5-foot-11 Saros is that he’s a bit undersized as far as modern day NHL goaltenders go, but his quick reflexes, strong positioning and athleticism make up for it. He’s talented enough to be a top-five goalie in the NHL very soon, and I think this young Finn could actually have a Vezina Trophy on his mantle within the next five years. He’s that good. Even in this deep class of rooks, Saros is my pick to have the most dominant career.canucks_002
